Health and Wellness Benefits

Medical

Full time Silver Hill Hospital (SHH) employees are offered a Medical Insurance Plan provided by United Health Care (UHC). Coverage becomes effective on the first day of the month after hire, after 30 days of employment, provided the employee has signed and returned the enrollment paperwork or enrolled online though the employee portal, ADP.

Dependents are eligible for coverage at the time of enrollment of the employee.

Cost:

Silver Hill pays the majority of the cost of the employee’s premium for medical and dental as an employee benefit.

As an additional employee benefit, Silver Hill shares in the cost of the dependent coverage premium.

If an employee chooses to opt out (waive) their medical & dental insurance; the employee will be compensated $30.00 per week in their paycheck. Employees must provide proof of other coverage to receive the credit.

Health Savings Account (HSA)

Each new plan year, Silver Hill Hospital makes a contribution to the medical deductible to each employee’s HSA who has enrolled in our medical plan*. These funds are the employee’s day one of the plan year and are their savings to keep and utilize for health care expenses. Employees may also contribute to their HSA on a tax free basis through payroll deductions.

*Due to IRS regulations, employees that enrolled in our medical plan and are also enrolled in Medicare will receive the employer contribution in a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA). Medicare enrolled employees have the option to fund a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) on tax free basis to utilize for most health care expenses including medical, dental, vision and prescription.

Prescription Drug Coverage

When an employee enrolls in the medical plans above, he or she will receive prescription drug coverage through United Healthcare.

Dental

Dental coverage is offered through United Healthcare. There are two plans to choose from. Orthodontia is included in the richer plan; adults and children are eligible for specific services up to a limit.

Vision

Vision coverage is offered through United Healthcare for employees and their dependents. There are two types of coverage: “exam only” or “exam plus materials”.

Life Insurance
Silver Hill will provide a life insurance policy for regular full time employees through Cigna at no cost to the employee. This coverage is equal to one times the employee’s annual base salary up to $150,000. When you are age 65 or older, your Basic Life Insurance will reduce a percentage based on your age band. Please refer to the Cigna Group Life Insurance Certificate on the Silver Hill intranet for additional policy details.

Employees may purchase supplemental life insurance through Cigna for themselves or eligible family members.

Long Term Disability (LTD)
LTD enrollment is provided within 30 days of employment or benefits-eligible service at no cost to the employee. LTD replaces lost income during a long-term disability with benefits beginning at six months after the onset of a disability.

Short Term Disability

The cost is the sole responsibility of the employee, should they wish to purchase additional insurance and will be coordinated through weekly payroll deductions.
