Silver Hill Hospital

“We need champions…donors who will give money for mental health and allow us to recognize and celebrate them for supporting our work.”

Chief Advancement Officer

“We need champions…donors who will give money for mental health and allow us to recognize and celebrate them for supporting our work.”

Tim Dougherty believes that many people are underserved when it comes to access to the best mental health treatment, and that philanthropy can help bridge the gap. “I came to Silver Hill,” he says, “because I believe that philanthropy can have a huge impact on improving this situation.”

Making such an impact means attracting substantial gifts, something Mr. Dougherty is confident his career in philanthropy to date has prepared him for. “It’s not transactional,” he says. ”It’s about building relationships and involving donors in the life of our institution, making them a part of it.”

Philanthropic contributions to Silver Hill are used in three ways, Mr. Dougherty explains: “First, to provide access to Silver Hill treatment to those who are unable to afford it otherwise; to improve the quality of patient care here; and to support the development of new evidence-based treatments at Silver Hill which can serve as models in mental healthcare.”
